Food Co-ops

by Operation Pure Harvest 122

As you may already know, a food co-op is basically a grocery store owned and operated by its members.  Members pay a small fee in order to join and they agree to work a very reasonable amount of time each month at the store.  In return they receive a benefit by being able to purchase fresh, organic and local food at discounted prices.  The most popular example in New York City is the Park Slope Food Co-op.

Some members of our community have been working hard to organize a food co-op for Western Queens.  You can find out the specific details regarding their progress on their website.  We hope you'll consider joining in order to help get this awesome project up and running!
